ARTICLE 23/07/2025

Within the thematic week "Learning and Playing", on Monday, July 21, 2025, a multicultural event entitled: "Sport for Life - Playing and Learning Together" was organized in the Commons-C Exhibition Area at the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition. The aim of the event was to display the transformative power of sport in education and togetherness and to demonstrate how sport helps individuals learn, connect and progress across cultures and generations.

Along with Croatia, all Commons C countries participated: Gabon, San Marino, Guatemala, Ukraine, Uruguay, Slovenia, Slovakia, Israel, Panama and Montenegro, which presented and exhibited their national sport of choice to visitors through the display of various sports items and the screening of video materials promoting the selected national sports of each participating country.

Croatia exhibited a signed jersey of the captain of the Croatian national football team and sports icon Luka Modrić. Visitors had the opportunity to take photos with this unique jersey, participate and test their knowledge in a quiz about other Croatian athletes and sporting events from Croatian sports history, thus presenting Croatian sport in the best possible way.

This event highlighted to visitors togetherness, cooperation, social inclusion and peacebuilding – especially among young people, and the joy of sport as a universal language that transcends borders, builds bridges and promotes Croatia around the world, while teaching, connecting and inspiring growth across cultures and uniting people through shared experiences. Sports diplomacy remains one of the indispensable tools in strengthening Croatia's foreign policy position on the international stage.
